In the morning we decide to skip the planned road along the sea to Izmir, since it is a long weekend because of the feast "Eid el Adha", so the beaches are full of tourists.
In a village is a local market day and we stop to buy fresh fruits, bred, olives and olive oil. People are very friendly.
The location of the ruins of Assos is so nice, with a phenomenal view over the Agais sea. Assos founded at the beginning of the 1000 B.C. by Greek coming over from the island Lesvos with the Athena Temple build around 530 B.C. on top of the hill. Unfortunately the renovation was done with concrete and not with stones.
The way up to Assos temple
Tara always finds a place in the shade
Our next destination is Aiazini in Central Anatolia about 600km to drive. Before we reach the highway we need to take the busy narrow coast road. It is already 7pm and we only can do approx 250km. After Balikesir we locate a lake through Google earth and drive around searching for a suitable place to camp. The place we choose is flat and has a nice view over the lake. Unfortunately the lake seems to be visited by daytime locals, who don't care too much about the environment. We have to fight against hundreds of flys who invaded our BlueBird, killing minimum 99 of them.
A young female stray dog keeps us company the whole evening till the morning. Tara is not amused.
