Osum Canyon - Appalonia - Himarë - Livadeh
The start is maybe not so wonderful, as the man at the petrol station charges us Albanian lek 1:1 to Euro, which would be a 20% margin for him. Since it is our first time to fuel in Albania we believe him, that 165 is not Albanian lek but 1,65 eur as it is written on the petrol pump. We fuel, even pay in euro, drive further, get suspicious, ask another nearby petrol station about the price, find out that he fouled us, turn back, challenge him, get our overpaid money back, immediately.
So we have to keep in mind, even if the currency written on the petrol pump is Euro. .. it is Albanian Lek!
Nevertheless, another wonderful part of this trip starts.
We have to return the same way back till Berat to reach Appalonia an archeological site founded in the 7th century, beside the medieval monastery with Saint Mary Church dating back to the 13th century.
Appalonia
Another wedding and Tara is bored.... there are 4 different couples in Appalonia area to have their wedding pictures taken
The coast road after Vuno towards south is really really breathtaking. Driving up the mountains to Llogarno pass on 1027m and steep down again, is not easy, neither for us nor for our BlueBird (van), but we all enjoy this experience. What an amazing nature Albania has to offer.
The coast street towards south
Good enough to stay for one night beside the sea, but no comparison with our last camps in the mountains, specially the mosquitos here are horrible and no air in the night, so hot.
Tara curious about a fellow white shepeard
